Digital Concrete Test Hammer

A Digital Concrete Test Hammer is used to determine the compressive strength of concrete by measuring the rebound of a spring-loaded mass impacting the surface of the concrete with continuous automatic recording of all parameters, registering and processing data, and then transferring them to a PC. Equipped with an electronic transducer that measures the rebound values and supplies automatically the results on a graphic display. When the Hammer strikes the concrete surface, it rebounds, and the rebound distance is measured by the device. This rebound distance correlates with the hardness of the concrete, which in turn can be used to estimate its compressive strength. The digital version of the test hammer incorporates electronic sensors and displays to provide more accurate and reliable measurements compared to traditional analog versions. Digital concrete test hammers offer features such as a digital display of rebound values, data storage capabilities, and connectivity options for transferring test data to computers or other devices for further analysis. These advancements enhance the efficiency and accuracy of concrete strength testing in construction and quality control applications.

Test Procedure of Concrete Test Hammer, Digital

  1. Surface Preparation: Prepare the concrete surface by cleaning it from any loose particles, dust, or debris. Smooth the surface if necessary to ensure uniformity.

  2. Selection of Test Locations: Determine the locations on the concrete surface where tests will be conducted. Typically, these locations should be representative of the area being tested and should include various positions across the surface.

  3. Test Execution: Hold the digital concrete test hammer perpendicular to the concrete surface. Ensure that the instrument is firmly pressed against the concrete surface.Press the trigger or button to initiate the impact.The hammer will strike the concrete surface, and the rebound mechanism will cause it to bounce back. The digital display on the test hammer will indicate the rebound value, typically in units such as rebound number or strength value. Record the rebound value for each test location.

  4. Repeat Tests: It is common practice to conduct multiple tests at each location to ensure consistency and accuracy. Typically, three to five tests are performed at each location, and the average rebound value is calculated.

  5. Data Analysis: Once all tests are completed, analyze the rebound values to estimate the compressive strength of the concrete. Refer to relevant standards or calibration curves provided by the manufacturer to correlate rebound values with concrete strength.
