Sieve Shaker, Motorized
A Motorized Sieve Shaker is used to shake or agitate a stack of sieves to separate particles based on their size using a vibration motor. Sieves are mesh-like devices with uniform holes of different sizes. When a sample is placed on the top sieve and the stack is shaken, particles smaller than the openings in the sieve fall through, while larger particles remain on top. This process is commonly used in various industries and research fields to analyze particle size distribution in materials such as soil, aggregates, pharmaceuticals, and food products. Unlike traditional sieve shakers that typically employ only vertical or horizontal motion, NL Scientific provides the triple motion sieve shaker that combines three types of motions: Vertical Motion, Horizontal Motion, and Rotational Motion.
Compared to the NL Scientific Triple Motion Sieve Shaker (Large 450mm dia. And 300mm Version), the Motorized Sieve Shaker Series is a more cost-effective option with triple motion features. Reliable and long-lasting, can hold up to 10 sieves.
Type of Sieve Shaker Motion Settings
- Vertical Motion: This motion helps to move the particles through the sieve openings, ensuring proper separation.
- Horizontal Motion: It ensures that the particles are evenly distributed across the sieve surface, preventing clogging and ensuring accurate results.
- Rotational Motion: This motion mimics the rotational motion of the sieve, aiding in the passage of particles through the sieve mesh.
Features of Sieve Shaker, Motorized
- Triple Motion Functionality: Incorporates vertical, horizontal, and rotational motions to ensure thorough and efficient sieving.
- Vibration Intensity
- Easy removable quick-release knob clamping
- Durable Construction: Built with robust materials to withstand continuous use in laboratory environments.

Standards
- EN 932-5: This standard is part of the European Norm (EN) series and specifically pertains to "Tests for general properties of aggregates." EN 932-5 outlines the methods for the determination of the particle size distribution of aggregates by sieving. It provides guidelines and procedures for conducting sieve analysis to determine the size distribution of aggregates used in construction materials. This standard ensures that aggregates meet the specified particle size requirements for various construction applications.
- AASHTO T 27: This standard is issued by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and is titled "Standard Method of Test for Sieve Analysis of Fine and Coarse Aggregates." AASHTO T 27 specifies the procedures for determining the particle size distribution of fine and coarse aggregates using sieve analysis. It provides detailed instructions on sample preparation, sieving techniques, and calculations necessary to determine the gradation of aggregates. This standard is widely used in the United States for quality control and acceptance testing of aggregates used in highway and transportation construction projects.
Test Procedure of Sieve Shaker, Motorized
Preparation of Sample:
- Ensure that the sample to be sieved is representative and properly prepared according to the specific testing requirements.
- If necessary, reduce the sample size to an appropriate amount that can be accommodated by the sieves without overloading.
Selection of Sieves:
- Choose the appropriate set of sieves with mesh sizes suitable for the desired particle size distribution analysis.
- Stack the sieves in ascending order of mesh size, with the finest sieve at the bottom and the coarsest sieve at the top.
Assembling the Sieve Stack:
- Place the stack of sieves securely onto the sieve shaker platform, ensuring that each sieve is properly nested within the next one and that the stack is stable.
Setting Parameters:
- Adjust the settings on the Triple Motion Sieve Shaker according to the specifications of the test method and the characteristics of the sample.
- Set the desired shaking speed, duration, and type of motion (vertical, horizontal, tapping) based on the requirements of the analysis.
Starting the Shaker:
- Start the Triple Motion Sieve Shaker to initiate the sieving process.
- Monitor the shaking action to ensure that the sample is being properly agitated and sieved.
Observation and Inspection:
- Periodically inspect the sieves during the sieving process to check for any signs of clogging or irregularities.
- If necessary, adjust the shaking parameters or stop the shaker to address any issues that may arise.
Completion of Sieving:
- Once the sieving process is complete, stop the Triple Motion Sieve Shaker and remove the stack of sieves from the platform.
- Carefully disassemble the sieves and inspect the retained material on each sieve for further analysis.
Analysis of Results:
- Weigh the retained material on each sieve to determine the mass fraction of particles retained at each size fraction.
- Calculate the particle size distribution based on the mass fractions and the mesh sizes of the sieves used.
Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Clean the sieves and the sieve shaker platform thoroughly after use to remove any residual material and prevent contamination.
- Perform routine maintenance on the Triple Motion Sieve Shaker as recommended by the manufacturer to ensure its proper functioning and longevity.
