Product Description

Portable vertical concrete / asphalt core drilling machine designed for drilling cylindrical core samples from pavements, concrete slabs, rocks, or similar hard materials. It is powered by a small gasoline engine and uses a mechanical feed system to advance the drill spindle.

  • EN 12390-4

This European standard provides specifications for testing machines used to determine the comprehensive strength of hardened concrete. It outlines the requirements for the design, performance, and verification of these machines to ensure accurate and reliable testing procedures in the European context. 

  • ASTM C39

This standard test method for Compressive Strength of Cylindrical Concrete Specimens. This standard is published by ASTM International, this standard describes the procedure for determining the compressive strength of cylindrical concrete specimens. It is widely used in the United States and internationally for quality control in concrete construction.

  • AASHTO T22

AASHTO T22 is the standard developed by the American of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), establishes standardize guidelines for assessing the compressive strength of cylindrical concrete specimens. As a widely recognize authority highway and transportation standards, AASHTO guarantees consistency and reliability in construction practices across the United States. 

Test Procedure

  1. Preparation: Before initiating the drilling process, ensure the coring machine is placed on a smooth stable surface, verify the proper functioning features of safety features such as emergency shit-off switches and guards, and inspect the 4-stroke petrol engine to conform adequate fuel and oil levels. 

  2. Start-Up Procedure: Follow the step-by-step procedure according to the manufacturer's instructions for starting the equipment. Allow the engine to warm up to the recommended temperature. 

  3. Functional Checks: Check and test all controls and switches to ensure they are responsive and functional. Verify the accurate engagement and disengagement of the coring mechanism. Water cooling system should be check (if applicable) to ensure its functioning properly. 

  4. Drilling Operation: Select an appropriate drill bit according to the intended application and material, secure the drilling material speed, precision, and efficiency. 

  5. Performance Testing: The drilling performance should be evaluated by assessing the drilling speed, precision and efficiency. Also. monitor the 4-stroke petrol engine's performance, ensuring it maintains consistent power throughout the drilling process. 

  6. Vibration and Noise Levels: Vibration levels should be assess during the operation.

  7. Cooling System Check: If the coring machine is equipped with a cooling system, monitor its effectiveness in preventing the machine from overheating during extended use. 

  8. Shutdown Procedure: Follow the step-by-step procedure given by the manufacturer for shutting down the coring machine safely. 

  9. Data Recording: Relevant data should be recorded which includes drilling time, depth, and any observations related to the machine's performance. 

  10. Post-Test Inspection: Visual inspection should be conducted on the coring machine of any signs of wear, damage, or potential issues. Also, check for loose components and tighten it.
