Standard: ISO179
Product Description
-
Touch Screen Interface which enhance the ease of operation and control of the machine with intuitive touch-based commands.
-
Dual Testing Capability (Charpy & Izod) which enables to versions of the impact test, providing flexibility in assessing different materials.
-
Precision Pendulum Mechanism which utilises a precise pendulum system to deliver accurate and consistent impact forces to the test specimens.
-
Automatic Data Recording which includes impact energy absorbed by the specimen, for analysis and documentation.
-
Control and coordination of the machine's functions, such as setting parameters, executing tests, and recording data, are managed by a single microcontroller or microprocessor chip.
Standard: ISO 179
This standard is governed by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) that outlines on determining the Charpy impact properties of plastics. This standard describes a method for evaluating how plastic materials can withstand sudden impacts. In the Charpy testing method, a standardised specimen of plastic materials is securely held, and a pendulum swing down to strike it. The test measures the amount of energy required by the specimen absorption before it breaks. This evaluation helps gauge the material's toughness and resistance to sudden impacts. ISO 179 specifies a procedure for conducting Charpy impact tests on plastics. It covers everything from preparing the specimens to the conditions under which the tests should be performed. Following these guidelines guarantees that the test results are consistent and comparable across different labs and manufacturers. This consistency is crucial for reliably evaluating plastic materials for various applications.
Test Procedure
- Setup and Calibration: Setup the machine properly and calibrated according to the manufacturer's instructions. This involves checking the pendulum alignment, ensuring the specimen clamping is secure, and calibrating the sensors for accurate measurements.
- Specimen Preparation: Prepare the test specimens according to the standards like ISO179 for Charpy or ASTM D256 for Izod. This usually means cutting, notching, and conditioning the specimens to meet test requirements.
- Test Type Selection: Utilise the touch screen to choose the test type (Charpy or Izod) and set specific parameters like pendulum size, impact velocity, or temperature.
- Specimen Loading: Place the prepared specimen securely in the machine's holder or clamp to prevent slipping during test.
- Begin Test: Start the test using the touch screen interface. The machine swings the pendulum to hit the specimen, and sensors record how much energy the specimen absorbs.
- Data Collection: The machine's software collects and processes the test data, showing it in real-time on the touch screen interface for analysis.
- Results Analysis: After the test, review the results displayed on the touch screen to see how much energy the specimen absorbed. This helps evaluate its toughness and impact resistance.
- Generate Report: Utilise machine's features to create test reports directly from the touch screen, including test parameters and results, for documentation and analysis.
- Maintenance: Make sure to clean the machine and ensure it's ready for the next use.
