Product Description

A Charpy Impact Tester with a 5J capacity, automatic operation, and a touch screen interface is a sophisticated tool for assessing the toughness and resilience of materials, particularly metals. Its automated features, including sample loading and pendulum release, simplify testing processes while the intuitive touch screen interface enables easy setup, parameter adjustment, and real-time result viewing. With accurate data recording and analysis capabilities, it streamlines workflows, enhances accuracy, and ensures consistent test outcomes. This combination of advanced technology and user-friendly design makes it an invaluable asset across industries, from manufacturing to research and development.

Features of Charpy Impact Tester 5J (Automatic, Touch Screen)

  • Data Acquisition System (DAS) to capture and record various parameters such as impact energy, absorbed energy, and time of impact, enabling detailed analysis of material behaviour.
  • Integrated Touch Screen Interface integrated into the tester, allowing operators to control testing parameters, set up tests, and view results conveniently.
  • Single microcomputer control where the control functions are implemented using a single integrated circuit (IC) or microcontroller.
  • Software algorithms implemented on the microcontroller or processor are responsible for processing the acquired data and calculating strength values. These algorithms may involve mathematical formulas, statistical methods, or predefined criteria specific to the test standards or material properties being evaluated.
  • LCD display.

Standard: ISO179

ISO179 is an international standard that specifies methods for determining the impact resistance of plastics using Charpy or Izod pendulum-type impact testers. This standard outlines the procedures for setting up the Charpy impact tester, including ensuring proper alignment of the specimen, positioning of the pendulum, and calibration of the equipment according to specified parameters. Also, it provides guidelines for collecting data during impact testing, such as recording the energy absorbed by the specimen upon fracture. Automated data acquisition systems capture this information accurately and efficiently, facilitating subsequent calculations.

Test Procedure

  1. Specimen Preparation: Preparation of specimens should be according to standard specifications, including dimensions. notch geometry, and conditioning procedures. Ensure specimens are properly labeled and identified for traceability.
  2. Setup and Calibration: Power on the Charpy Impact Tester and allow it to initialise. Perform any necessary calibration procedures to ensure the accuracy of the equipment. Verify that the touch screen interface is functional and calibrated properly.
  3. Load Sample: The prepared sample should be place into the sample holder or clamping mechanism of the Charpy Impact Tester.
  4. Test Parameter Setup: Use the touch screen interface to set up test parameters such as impact velocity, pendulum size, and temperature (if applicable). Input any additional test parameters or specifications required for the specific material being tested.
  5. Begin Test: Once all the parameters are set, initiate the test using the touch screen interface.
  6. Data Acquisition and Recording: During the test, the Charpy Impact Tester automatically records data such as impact energy, absorbed energy, and test time. The data is displayed in real-time on the touch screen interface for monitoring by the operator.
  7. Result Analysis: After the test is complete, the tester may automatically calculate parameters such as impact strength or absorbed energy based on the recorded data. The results are typically displayed on the touch screen interface, along with any relevant statistics or graphs.
  8. Reporting and Data Storage: Generate a test report, including all relevant test parameters, results, and any additional notes or observations. Store the test data electronically, either internally within the tester or externally on a connected device, for future reference and analysis
  9. Post-Test Maintenance: Perform any necessary maintenance procedures on the Charpy Impact Tester, such as cleaning and calibration, to ensure its continued accuracy and reliability.
