Product Description

A "Universal Extruder" in construction is a flexible tool used in additive manufacturing, like 3D printing. It can extrude plastics, metals, ceramics, and even concrete, layer by layer, to build structures. These extruders adapt to different needs, offering material choice, design complexity, and scalability. They're used for prototyping, making building components, and constructing entire structures. The concept emphasises a single tool handling diverse materials and tasks, streamlining construction and enabling innovative designs. Also, it allows the marshall CBR and proctor sample 4”, 6”, 100 mm and 150 mm to be easily removed from the mould.

Features of Universal Extruder

  • The Engineering Precision is high and accurate in layer-by-layer construction, guaranteeing quality and reliability in the final output.

  • Streamline Workflow which simplifies the construction process by consolidating multiple tasks into a single tool, saving time and resource.

  • Digital Tools integration which seamlessly integrates with digital design software and automation system, enhancing efficiency and compatibility with modern construction workflows.

  • Scalability versatility from small prototypes to large-scale construction projects, offering versatility for projects of any size.

Standard: ASTM D698/D1587/D1883, BS 598-107/1377-4/1924-2

  • ASTM D69

This standard is an international standard known as ASTM International used to determine the compaction characteristics of soil. It involves compacting a soil sample under controlled conditions to measure its density at various moisture contents. The results help assess soil stability and suitability for construction projects.

  • ASTM D1587

The standard above describes procedures for obtaining intact samples of soils using thin-walled tubes for various geotechnical purposes. The practice involves driving a thin-walled tube into the ground to extract undisturbed soil samples for laboratory testing. Obtaining intact soil samples using thin-wall tubes, as outlined in ASTM D1587, is essential for precisely assessing soil properties and characteristics, such as grain size distribution, density, and moisture content. ASTM D1587 helps ensure the reliability of soil samples used in geotechnical investigations and engineering analysis.

  • ASTM D1883

This standardised procedure is utilised to assess the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) OF laboratory-compacted soils. The test highlights the fundamental in gauging the strength and load-bearing capability of soils, especially concerning pavement design and construction. By compacting the soil samples to a specified density and moisture levels and then applying a compressive load, engineers can determine the ratio of the required load to penetrate depth compared to the load needed for a standard crushed rock material under identical conditions. The results of ASTM D1883 testing guide engineers in selecting appropriate materials for pavement construction. By comparing CBR values across different soil types, engineers can make informed decisions about which soils are most suitable for supporting pavements and other structures.

  • BS 598-107

This British standard is utilise for soil testing in civil engineering. It showcases procedures to determine soil properties like moisture content, density, particle size, shear strength, and permeability. By making the testing methods standardised, it guarantees engineers get reliable data for designing structures, foundations, and embankments, promoting safety and durability in construction projects.

  • BS 1377-4

This standard is based from British specifically highlights the methods of soil testing for civil engineering purposes, mainly focusing on compaction-related test. It outlines procedures for determining the maximum and minimum densities achievable through soil compaction, as well as moisture content at which this densities are achieve. The importance of this standard s for assessing soil compaction, vital for designing embankments, road bases, and other structures. Compliance with BS 1377-4 ensures that compaction testing methods are standardised and consistent, allowing engineers to obtain accurate data for assessing soil suitability and ensuring the stability and performance of construction projects.

  • BS 1924-2

BS 1924-2, a British Standard, outlines techniques for determining the bulk density and void content of aggregates crucial for concrete production. By measuring mass and volume, engineers understand aggregate compactness and air voids, vital for concrete strength and durability. Adhering to BS 1924-2 ensures consistent testing practices, enabling engineers to create concrete mixes meeting performance requirements for construction projects.

Test Procedure

  1. Prepare: Get the extruder ready and load the material you want to observe.
  2. Set: Adjust the temperature and pressure settings to match the material and the shape you want.
  3. Start: Turn on the extruder and begin the process. Keep an eye on it to make sure everything goes smoothly.
  4. Check: Regularly inspect what's coming out to make sure it's the right size and shape.
  5. Clean up: When you're done, tidy up the extruder and the area around it.
  6. Record: Write down what you did and how it turned out for future reference.
  7. Finish: Turn off the extruder and clean it up properly for the next time.
